Review Rating: 5 Stars – Congratulations on your 5-star review!
Gold Rush is the second novel in The William Stewart Saga by Peter Clarke. William wants to try his luck and this time he has to leave the Lady Grace and the safety it provides. His next stop is Australia, the land that promises gold and riches beyond anyone’s imagination. So, William leaves the sea behind and starts his journey toward gold. However, nothing could have prepared him for how hard, harsh, and downright dangerous Australia can be. The heat and dry weather are torture, but that is not the only thing out to get William. The snakes are a danger while William looks for gold, but the crackdown of the government on the gold diggers is far more difficult than anything William anticipated. If the diggers are not careful, they might have a massacre on their hands, and they will definitely lose.
The action is intense in the story, and for me, the action is the most important element. There is never a dull moment where I felt the plot wasn’t going anywhere. Each turn of the page, each new chapter, and every new twist was exciting. Author Peter Clarke creates believable scenarios and allows readers to feel like a part of the story rather than just a spectator. William is the perfect protagonist. He is interesting, relatable, and very real. His human qualities make it easier for readers to feel a connection and root for him to get his fair share of gold and hit it big. The plot is intense and very interesting. The description of dry, hot Australia is the perfect background to William’s growth and journey to resilience and strength. The dialogues are fun, the plot is fantastic, and the overall feel of the story is great!
